Overnight Camp Day!

I hired a babysitter to be at the house for 7am so that I could go to my Rotary Club meeting.  Since Kevin went to bed late last night, I told her she did not need to waken him at 8am, but let him sleep as long as he could.  When I returned at 8:45, he was still asleep.  At 9:00 he awoke, and we got ready for his special day at camp!  They are having an overnight in tents tonight!

On the way to camp, I popped in a CD of Morning Worship at Chautauqua this past Sunday.  Kevin wanted to hear the organ (the largest outdoor organ in the world!) played, but he never did hear it in person, even though he played it himself last summer!!!!   I bought the CD for him to hear the organ.  Also the lead baritone in the opera last Saturday night, sang a solo with the choir (Grandma sang in the choir), and he sang another solo.  We only had time to hear the beginning of the service, but he was impressed with the organ.
We were late, of course, for the day, but it was better to be well rested than to be on time.  We carried in his backpack with the normal extra set of clothes plus clothes for tomorrow, PJs, sunblock and bug repellent, long pants and long sleeves for a cool evening.  The packing list included "special stuffed animal."  He said he wanted his Gankie too but didn't want anyone to see it.  I told him to wrap "doggie" with the gankie so that it appeared to be the dog's blanket.  He did that and wrapped the dog very neatly as if swaddled.  We had his pillow and sleeping bag in a garbage bag and his lunch kit with lunch and snacks for morning and afternoon.  On Friday, the camp will provide snacks and have a pizza lunch.  Tonight, they served them dinner and S'Mores, but they did not have a campfire.    However, they did sing camp songs.

Grandma was very lonely tonight and missed the boy!!!
