From Hogwarts to Ice

Grandma had an early morning meeting, so Adam (babysitter from last year) came to babysit. Kevin was delighted, and, I think, Adam was too! They both enjoy each other!

Today was dress up day. The leaders suggested to me yesterday that meant wearing a Superman t-shirt, so that is exactly what we did. But, when we arrived, many were in Halloween-type costumes! He could have been Darth Vader using the costume I made for Greg many years ago. When we arrived, the group was boarding a train to Hogwarts with Harry Potter leading them.

They were also supposed to wear Crocs or other suitable water shoes as they were going to wade in a creek. I am told that Kevin was the only one who got soaked. Any surprise there? I forgot to send extra clothes, though he did have an extra shirt.
When I arrived, his shorts and underwear were very wet and muddy! This is what was happening at the end of the day:

He wanted me to tour the Discovery Garden. Pointing out the lily pads and telling me someone saw a turtle.

He insisted on showing me where they walked in a creek, but the gate to that trail was locked by 5pm. He was so disappointed (and tired, I am sure) that he had a bit of a meltdown. I told him I wanted to show him another trail with steps and ramps down a deep ravine. He didn't care about any steps! Until... he saw them! Then he was intrigued and the tears dried up. Coming out of the ravine, we found this dead tree made into a musical instrument!

It is a gayageum.

Look at this adorable dirty face! LOL

As we headed for the car, he said his leg was hurting so badly that he couldn't walk. The pain was where the wet denim had chaffed against his skin. Grandma had to carry him to the car. Fortunately, it wasn't too far away by that point!
Once home, he went straight to a bath where he dressed himself in bubbles.

We picked up Melanie tonight and went skating; the last time for Kevin. He is doing SOOO well!!!! He started off using a cage to get back into the groove,

then he took off around the rink. He went around four times without holding anyone's hand before he had a fall!!!! And his speed is picking up. It is quite surprising to see the level of improvement each week!

Of course, he wanted to wait for the Zamboni, but, after about 15 min., it still had not come. Melanie wanted to go to DQ with us, and we couldn't wait all night for the Zamboni, so we had tears. We had tears a few times today including at day camp, I am told, when everyone had finished their painting except him and the leaders wanted to move on to another activity. He is definitely over-tired. We are not getting to bed early enough!!! Too many things to do in a day!
